                Lettering and Restoration of Firearms.

Firearms Lettering restoration involves engraving repair of missing, rusted or over buffed gun lettering. There are two ways to fix the problem. First, is to hand cut the light or missing letters. Hand work is fine where only a small repair is needed. I can deepen serial numbers that are thin. PLEASE do not send me a gun with a missing serial number or a number that you can not read. I do not change serial numbers or guess what it is!  The second way to repair lettering is to remove and re-letter. I usually prefer to sand out the rust and dings around the lettering. Most lettering is done in 2 weeks. I Do Not letter on stainless or aluminum. Prices are below for standard Colt or Winchester lettering. If you want some custom lettering on your gun, the price is $3.00 per letter with a $20.00 minimum. Sent to me as parts. I charge extra to take apart do metalwork and assemble. Barrels will on occasion need to be removed to be repaired. I have a barrel vise for this. The samples shown here are not everything I have. If you need something else then E mail me. Ballard & Hepburn Lettering

Marlin Ballard  Lettering restoration is a service I offer. The Ballard "factory" will not re-letter your old gun. I remove the old faded or rusted original lettering and clean the metal of corrosion. Then put back the lettering. Ballard had 3 addresses. Two 3 line and one 2 line address. I can restore all of the Ballard lettering. Two line is $75.00 and the 3 line addresses are  $95.00.
